What can you consult them about?

Virtually all areas of invasive cardiology, including ischaemic heart disease, invasive management of acute myocardial infarction (cardiac catheterisation, acute infarction care, PCI for coronary stenosis), pacemaker, cardiac resynchronisation (CRT), and defibrillator-pacemaker (ICD) therapy for arrhythmias. Catheter ablation of cardiac arrhythmias (atrial fibrillation, atrial tachycardias, ventricular extrasystoles, AVNRT, AVRT, and life-threatening ventricular tachycardias). ICD and resynchronisation therapy for heart failure, left atrial appendage closure, transcatheter mitral valve repair (MitraClip). Coronary diagnostics, hypertension management, cardiology second opinion. Annual case volume: 650 ablations, 500 pacemaker/ICD/CRT implantations, 600 coronary interventions, 30 appendage closures, 25 MitraClip procedures.

About Me

“Illness is not primarily a problem — it is a task, a challenge that demands a solution!”
Twenty-five years ago, he began attending the Heart and Vascular Center (then the Vascular and Cardiac Surgery Clinic) of Semmelweis University as a member of the Scientific Student Research Society — and was immediately captivated by the complex intellectual and manual world of challenges that has remained his passion ever since. He was greatly influenced by one of the leading figures of experimental physiology, Prof. Dr. Sándor Juhász-Nagy, by the former director of the Clinic, Prof. Dr. Zoltán Szabó, and by the current Rector of the University and Director of the Városmajor Clinic, Prof. Dr. Béla Merkely. In this environment, with a solid foundation in physiology, he increasingly gravitated toward clinical electrophysiology and interventional cardiology, eventually becoming a specialist of European renown.

His specialties include the treatment of cardiac arrhythmias, heart failure, and coronary artery disease — procedures he has performed on tens of thousands of patients. Healing is his passion, and he knows that the key to it lies in professional expertise, curiosity, courage, continuous development, and earning the patient’s trust — with treatment always carried out with the patient’s full involvement. Tens of thousands of procedures, the development and publication of new methods, openness, and dedication — these are what have led to invitations from across the world to teach his innovative techniques. He is a university professor, deputy head of department, and head of both the Day Cardiology Ward and the Electrophysiology Laboratory at the Városmajor Heart and Vascular Center, and has received multiple awards for his work.

His scientific and clinical work encompasses the development of new methods and procedures, and he publishes continuously, serving as a peer reviewer for several journals. His career includes more than 15,000 catheter-based coronary angioplasties, more than 8,000 pacemaker and ICD/CRT implantations, more than 3,000 conventional ablations and 4,000 atrial fibrillation ablations, as well as hundreds of ventricular tachycardia ablations. He trains young physicians and international colleagues, but above all, he heals — often performing life-saving procedures with his team. And what he considers perhaps the most important part of his work: talking to people in plain, human language, listening — and finding a solution. Because he believes there is always one.
