Sciatica: lower back pain may also be caused by sciatica (irritation of the sciatic nerve). This is a form of herniated disc in which the disc presses on the sciatic nerve (nervus ischiadicus). It is characterized by pain radiating into the buttocks and lower limbs, often accompanied by additional symptoms.
Cartilage degeneration: lower back pain can also be caused by the thinning, deterioration, or wear of the cartilage surface covering the joints. Without proper cartilage protection, the bony structures within the joint rub against each other, resulting in pain.
Common lower back pain: in these cases, there are no neurological symptoms present. It is typically characterized by severe pain that occurs with almost every movement.
Treatments
- Paravertebral lumbar injection
- Ultrasound-guided joint block
- Infusion therapy
All pain therapy treatments are performed exclusively based on a specialist’s recommendation.
In the case of infusion therapy, patients with diabetes also require a diabetology consultation, which we provide on-site. Non-surgical treatment methods are frequently used in neurosurgery as well. Oral medications and infusion therapies may help prepare patients for more effective surgical treatment, but in some cases the symptoms disappear completely and surgery becomes unnecessary.
The goal of pain therapy is to identify and eliminate the underlying cause of pain using the available treatment methods. When pain occurs, many people expect a simple painkiller to solve the problem, but this usually does not provide a long-term solution. It is important to determine the exact location and cause of the pain. Feel free to contact us with confidence — we are here to help relieve your pain.
