About Me

Dr. Andrea Astrid Apor, PhD graduated from Semmelweis University’s Faculty of Medicine in 1989. She gained her first professional experience at the central intensive care unit of Nyírő Gyula Hospital and passed her board examination in anaesthesiology and intensive care in 1994. Since 1992, she has been a member of staff at the Városmajor Heart and Vascular Center of Semmelweis University, where she passed her cardiology board examination in 2007. Her primary professional interest is the ultrasound diagnostics of cardiovascular diseases. She played a pioneering role at the Városmajor Clinic in introducing transcatheter cardiac procedures, and is a recognised expert and educator — both nationally and internationally — in the diagnosis and treatment of heart disease, with a particular focus on valvular heart conditions. Since 1992, she has participated in numerous national and international research projects and holds a PhD. She is a regular organiser of and invited speaker at national and international congresses, an associate professor, and President of the Echocardiography Licensing Training Panel. Her medical philosophy is rooted in the belief that a high level of professional expertise, combined with conscientious and thorough work and a patient-centred, empathetic, and patient approach, lays the foundation for the trust between doctor and patient that is the very cornerstone of recovery.
